  • Approximately 140ft of useable line (1/2 inch), 155ft total line
  • Line is white in color and has retro reflective thread woven into outer casing to increase visibility at night
  • 3 turns on drum when cranking
  • 4th turn goes across chrome roller and into friction lock
  • No turns required while pulling in slack
  • Ratios: Clockwise 6:1, Counter clockwise 2.2:1

Hoist Static Discharge Cable (HSD)

  • Located coiled in top pouch of SAR board
  • 10ft cable that attaches to hoist hook eye via carabiner and hangs below rescue swimmer
  • Helps discharge static electricity by grounding aircraft through hoist cable prior to rescue swimmer coming in contact with surface
  • Used only at discretion of rescue swimmer

Quick Splice

A
  • Used anytime the cable has been cut with cable cutters and need to continue hoisting
  • When properly rigged, cut end SHALL have a 3 inch overhang past top plate
  • When used, hoist up limit switch is inoperable
  • When done hoisting with quick splice, pay out cable enough to shut cabin door and store behind right side troop seat

Seats & Belts

A
  • Aircrew seats capable of sustaining a 14 G deceleration throughout length of seat stroke
  • Aircrew SHALL not release seat belts without permission at any altitude
  • Do not store items under aircrew seats
  • Higher seat adjustments absorb higher crash loads
  • Inertia reeks designed to automatically lock if force of 6 G’s is experienced in any axis and if harness is extended with force of 2.5 G’s or greater
  • Each crew member and passenger SHALL be seated with belt fastened except when operational necessities requires movement about cabin and pilot has granted permission
  • Do not release seat belt until parking brake has been set

Cargo Loading

  • Cargo hook rated to 6,000 lbs
  • Floor rated to 300 lbs per square foot max
  • Deck tie downs rated to 2,500 lbs
  • Load cargo under MGB if possible
  • Cargo SHALL be secured using cinch down capable cargo straps to prevent shifting or becoming a middle hazard in event of hard landing or ditching
  • Secure cargo in a manner that restrains Both longitudinally and laterally
