Q

If the lower X.BP switches are turned horizontal (open) what will happen to the booster pump switch

A

It will go to the STBY position which will turn the pump on. In this condition both the main pump and standby pump are running. If the switch is put in the STBY position then only the STBY pump will run. This helps get more fuel to out of the center bays to the engines. When tanks are full it is necessary to get fuel out of center section because the center section has 1000 lbs more fuel then the wing groups.

25
Q

How are the outflow valves controlled?

A

HP bleed from either the APU or from engines one or two. HP bleed air goes through a jet pump which causes a suction that opens and closes the outflow valve.

26
Q

In what order do the fuel tank vent valves open?

A

First the left and then the right valve open

27
Q

What is normal position for the manual pressure controller?

A

All the way counterclockwise to green dot.

28
Q

When would the parking brake be used on landing?

A

When all hydraulics have been lost

29
Q

Which hydraulic system controls

  1. Pitch Arthur Q
  2. Aileron Arthur Q
A

Pitch Arthur Q is on number one hydraulic system

Aileron is arthur Q number 2 hydraulic system

30
Q

What do the green brake lights mean?

A

That the number one antiskid braking system is working.

31
Q

How is the emergency aileron trim actuator powered.

A

Electrically via the B2 bus.

32
Q

What does the IRS give you?

A

Gives you attitude, heading and acceleration.

33
Q

If the the flight director and Autopilot are active what will happen if the flight director disconnects?

A

The autopilot will also disconnect.

34
Q

What is the minimum oxygen required for dispatch?

A

700 psi. This is for unpressurized flight crew only no pax. It is in the event of smoke or fire in the cabin.

35
Q

Maximum landing altitude

A

14000 ft

36
Q

Is there any danger of putting the airplane on it’s tail?

A

Any CG more than 43% (aft) can put the airplane on it’s tail although it has never happened.

37
Q

What does SB 317 change on the APU starting assist?

A

This service bulletin makes it such that the APU does not assist in the start sequence on the first start. This protects the EFIS tubes from the start sequence.

38
Q

What must be done if the fault circuit comes on for the fire circuits.

A

You must land as soon as possible.

39
Q

If the stab trim is out of the green what happens?

A

You will get a warning light and it will say “no takeoff”.

40
Q

What do you have to worry about when you are taking off with flaps at 7 degrees?

A

Brake energy. It is very hard to do an abort with only 7 degrees of flaps.

41
Q

Are the APU and BAG fire switches on the battery hot bus?

A

Yes

42
Q

What is normal oxygen pressure at 20˚ C?

A

1850 psi

43
Q

What does a flashing parking break light mean?

A

Pressure is below 1200 psi

44
Q

How quickly (in theory) can the crew’s quick donning oxygen masks be put on?

A

5 seconds

45
Q

How many stations are served by the oxygen system?

A

19

46
Q

At what cabin altitude will the masks fall down?

A

11,500 ft cabin pressure altitude

47
Q

If the pressure of the oxygen bottle indicates between 2000 and 2200 psi on the ground what should be done?

A

This is in the amber or too much pressure zone and the pressure should be reduced before takeoff.

48
Q

How many static wicks are there?

A

19 but can operate with as few as 17

49
Q

What engines control the outflow valves?

A

In the air it is engines 1 and 2 on the ground it is the APU.

50
Q

What powers the dump switch?

A

Electrical

51
Q

What powers the automatic altitude controller?

A

The A1 bus

52
Q

How do you dump the cabin if the dump switch doesn’t work?

A

Turn the manual pressure controller all the way to the right.

53
Q

Why would you dump the cabin?

A

If there is smoke in the cabin, but you can’t dump it until you are below 14000 ft.

54
Q

What do you lose when you lose the ADC?

A

You lose airspeed both analogue and tape, altitude, ASEL, Altimeter, and VSI.

55
Q

What is minimum oxygen for normal passenger flight?

A

1850psi

56
Q

How many times can a non tripped gen switch be reset?

A

2X

57
Q

What temperature turns on the red light on the ITT gauge on startup?

A

980˚ C.

58
Q

What happens when you have an A1 bus failure?

A

You will lose the screens and you will here “CABIN CABIN” because the automatic controller loses power as well.

59
Q

How do you know if you have a B1 bus failure?

A

Lose both of the screens on the rights side

60
Q

How do you know if you have a B2 bus failure?

A

Lose FMS 2 screen.

61
Q

What does the RH side APU switch on the overhead panel do?

A

It is the APU generator excitation button. 49-12.

62
Q

What is the landing distance increase with loss of antiskid?

A

50%

63
Q

How many ways can the landing gear be extended?

A

3 ways

  2. Pull T handle
  3. Mechanical
64
