Falcon 900b landing gear Flashcards
How many hydraulic braking systems can actuate the brakes?
Three.
Normal, Emergency, Parking/Emergency
How are the landing gear powered?
Electrically controlled and hydraulically actuated.
How does the steering hand wheel control the nose wheel?
It sends electronic signals to the steering actuator.
How is the main landing gear downlinked?
Two ways. By an integral lock in the actuator and by constantly applied hydraulic pressure.
How is the main landing gear unlocked?
Mechanical unlock units that are hydraulically unlocked in the normal mode and mechanically unlocked in the emergency mode.
How is the nose gear downlinked?
Mechanically by the telescopic locking tube which is also the drag brace.
How is the gear handle locked in place when it is in the down position and the airplane is on the ground?
There is a locking pin that holds the gear down. The locking pin can be overridden at any time by the red pushbutton above the control handle. In later aircraft this button is removed.
What does the flashing red light in the gear handle mean?
Either the gear is in transit or it fails to lock in either the extended or retracted position.
If the red T handle next to the gear handle is pulled what happens?
Electrical gear extension control is bypassed and the hydraulic unlocks are released and the gear are hydraulically extended and locked in place. Good for extension only.
What do the emergency gear D rings do?
The are mechanically connected to the unlocks and will release both the door and gear unlocks to allow the gear to freewill.
What is the indication on the panel that a gear door is not closed?
A red, rectangular light on the gear panel will light up.
How are the landing gear panel lights powered?
Primarily by the B1 bus with the A1 bus as a backup.
What will trigger the “gear” audible warning?
Airspeed below 160kts, and any of the power levers below 73˚ PLA.
What does it mean if the flaps are at 40˚ and the audible “gear” warning comes on?
Then one or more of the gear are not locked down. The voice cannot be silenced.
Why is it necessary to test the antiskid system after the landing gear are down?
Because the antiskid is deactivated when the gear are unlocked
