📌The key to social/ moral development is the ability to see other people’s points of view.
➡️Pre- Conventional Level( Stages 1-2) - Obedience and Punishment - Moral actions are driven by fear and consequences. - At Stage 2, moral actions are based on one’s self interest. ➡️ Conventional Level ( 3-4) - At Stage 3, Moral judgment is guided by conformity towards what society thinks is right or wrong.( Peer pressure) - At Stage 4, moral actions are based on following laws, rules and authority. One believes that it is important to abide by the rules in order to make peace. ➡️ Post- Conventional Level ( 5-6) At Stage 5, moral actions/ judgments are governed by a belief that rules don’t apply to every situation. ( Rules can be broken) They have to serve the right purpose in order to be justifiable.
At Stage 6, one’s moral judgment is based on ethical principles. Rules are fair if they are guided by justice.
