First norman king of England and he also conquered England, which altered English history forever, before he was king of England he was an important noble in France as the Duke of Normandy

He was the one forced to sign the Magna Carta because he was cruel to his subjects and made them pay a lot of taxes. (basically the Robin Hood movie King John)

Lords own the manor, they have serfs to work the land in exchange for places to live. DO NOT work.

Protected the lord’s land. Lived on land.
Serfs
Middle ages
Property of the Lord, but not slaves. No leaving the manor, or marrying without the lord’s permission. They had tiny houses with dirt floors often shared with animals.
