Imperialism And Age Of Exploration Flashcards

1
Q

Mercantilism

A

An economic theory suggesting a fixed amount of wealth in the world. Therefore a nation’s prosperity and power depends on its success in accumulating wealth through exporting more than it imports (intended to benefit European powers (mother country) but not entirely disadvantageous to colonies because it provided protective means for early development) but the dependency co tributes to enforced control and enslavement of many people and cultures
