  • Act of punishment and rising of the kings subjects passed after 1549 - lord lieutenants given control of county levies
  • measures to alleviate social and economic tensions ( unemployment and price of food risisng)
  • 1551 - revaluation of the coinage
  • 1552 - act passed to limit the amount of arable land that could be converted to pasture
  • 1552- corn dealers licensed - helped control price
  • 1552 - systematic collection and distribution of alms = helped the poor
  • 1552-55 - cloth trade regulations = to stop declining sales

  • rebellion gave the crown a chance to increase control over the north -POG + NEs
  • POG - council of the north redone - less gentry roles given more southerners and jp’s changed to kings sympathisers
  • NE - Catholic magistrates replaces by protestant magistrates and men without local connections like the earl of huntingdon brought up to run the council
