• Nobility were a target for many rebels

  • cornish = Morton and Bray
  • AMG = Wolsey
  • POG = Cromwell Cranmer + Rich
  • NE’s = William Cecil
  • Essex= Robert Cecil

• only minister to directly fall after rebellion ( most just had their positions weakened) was somerset = fell as policies favoured lower orders such as commissions enclosure + failure to quickly suppress rebellion

• Henry VII

  • Yorkshire over tax for war with France - didn’t delay FP = distraction
  • Warbeck affected relations with Burgundy, France + Scotland = treaty of Estaples + Ayton + trade embargo put on Burgundy
  • Cornish = troops on way to Scotland diverted to cornwall = henry had to sign treaty instead

•Henry VIII

  • clearest impact on FP
  • Fail to raise AMG = abandon invasion of France when they were weak following the capture of Francis I by the holy Roman emperor

•Edward VI

  • 1549 = serious impact on FP - At war with Scotland from 1542 - Victory at Solway Moss and Pinkie decided to conquer Scotland through garrisoning policy = policy abandoned as troops needed in 1549
  • 1549 unrest = encouraged France to declare war on england in August of 1549

•Mary
- wyatt encouraged anti spanish feelings = damaged anglo spanish relations = long term - encouraged spanish to aid Irish
