Immunophenotyping Flashcards
1
Q
What does SSC show?
A
Granularity
2
Q
What does FSC show?
A
Cell size
3
Q
How can we label the antibodies used to detect antigens?
A
- Fluorescent - detect light signal
- With an enzyme - detect reaction product
4
Q
Why is immunophenotyping important?
A
- Helps us distinguish between AML and ALL
- Helps us identify certain subtypes
- Monitoring MRD
5
Q
Outline the expression of HLA-DR in lymphoid and myeloid cells.
A
- Expressed on all immature cells
- Expressed on more mature B-cells
- Expressed on myeloid cells until the promyelocyte stage, so not expressed in APML
6
Q
Where is cytoplasmic-mu expressed?
A
- Most mature lymphoblasts
7
Q
In KMT2A, what is expressed?
A
- B-ALL phenotype with CD15 expression
8
Q
What is special about APML antigen expression?
A
Although an acute leukaemia, APML is negative for HLA-DR and CD34
