Q

describe innate immunity

A
  • neutrophils, monocytes, macrophages, eosinophils and mast cells
  • no danger of autoimmunity
  • no clonal memory

Q

what is the difference between B and T lymphocytes

A
  • B lymphocytes = antigen receptor is antibody
  • B lymphocytes recognised antigens anywhere whereas T lymphocytes only when presented on the surface of another cell
  • B lymphocytes - considerable secretion by plasma cell
  • T lymphocytes have little or none secretion of receptor

Q

How does clonal deletion of B lymphocytes happen

A
  • if in the bone marrow if they encounter an antigen that engages their antibody at the point when they are expressing their antibody as IgM only
  • for T dependent B lymphocytes in lymph node cortex and germinal centre after activation, when they are undergoing expansion and somatic mutation if they fail to get help from CD4 T-lymphocytes
