What are the organisms at increased risk for deficiency in:
- B-cell
- T-cell
- Complement
- Neutrophils
A
B cell disorders -> antibody deficiency = ENCAPSULATED organisms (usually sinopulmonary infections)
T-cell or combined immunodeficiency disorders = PROTOZOA, FUNGAL, MYCOBACTERIA, ‘INTRACELLULAR’ BACTERIA, VIRUSES (e.g. CMV)
Complement = Bacteria (e.g. Neiserria)
Neutrophils = PYOGENIC bacteria, especially on the skin (e.g. Staph), FUNGAL
