Hepatitis B
A
- Administered to all newborns. If the mother is positive for hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg), 0.5 ml of hepatitis B immune globulin (HBIG) is also given
- three doses of hepatitis B are given before the age of 2: at birth, at 1 to 2 months of age and at 9- 12 months of age
- if a dose is missed the series does not have to be restarted. It should be continued
- A specific contraindication to hepatitis B is hypersensitivity ti yeast
