Immunity to chronic infections Flashcards
1
Q
What are ways are viruses is eliminated from the body?
A
Virus neutralization by antibodies
Cell-mediated immunity- CD8-cytotoxic T-cells.
Interferons- inhibit viral multiplication and may provide temporary and localized protection for nearby cells.
Natural Killer Cells-moniters MHC class I viruses down regulate MHC class I

Q
What are CD8 CTLs?
A
A cell that is actively infected with virus can then process the endogenously produced viral antigens and present them to cytotoxic T-Cells.
These T-cells are activated and are then produce cytotoxic substances
