Q

Attachment - virus attaches itself to the host cell
Injection - the virus inserts its genetic material into the host cell.
Replication - the host cell builds parts of the virus
Assembly - the cell assembles the replicated parts into progeny viruses
Lysis - the cell breaks open and each replicated virus can now infect other cells

Q

How does the Lytic cycle differ from the lysogenic cycle?

A

Lytic:
Viral DNA destroys Cell DNA, takes over cell functions and destroys the cell, replicates and produces progeny phages, and has symptoms of viral infection.

Lysogenic:
Viral DNA merges with Cell DNA and does not destroy the cell, does not produce progeny, and does not have symptoms of viral infection.
