Immunity + Allergies Flashcards
what allows the body to determine self from non self
MHC- major histocompatibility molecule
innate immunity
acquired at birth, transformed in utero from mom
acquired immunity
gained over experince
-passive acquired= natural- breast milks; induced= IVIG
-active aquired natural= got sick and have protection
-active aquired= vaccine
Two types of aquired immunity
- humoral immunity (B lymphyocytes)
- Cell mediated (T lymphyocytes)
where are B lymphs produced? stored?
produced in bone marrow
stored in lymph nodes and SP
Which type of immunity is associated with antibodies
humoral B cells/ B Lymphocuytes
where are T lymphyocytes prodcued
produced in bone marrow
-mature in thalamus
-stored in lymph nodes and SP
have specific receptors for antigen recognition
T cells
Allergy classifications
*Type I: Immediate.
-anaphylaxis
*Type II: Cytotoxic
-Rh incompatibility with pregnancy
*Type III: Immune complex
-lupus, autoimmune
*Type IV: Cell-mediated. (14)
-mast cell, TB test
-delated response
