Immune System 2 Flashcards
Describe the cellular response to a pathogen
Steps 1, 2, and 3 are the same as antibody response, helper T cell goes to Cytoxic T-cell (killer T cell)
Killer T cell= stimulated by helper T cel, destroys cells that have pathogen inside of them, has enzyme perforin that lines the cell with pathogen, like bombs that explode on the bad cell
How are enzymes catalysts?
Enzymes are catalysts because they increase the speeds of chemical reactions
What does amylase do?
Breaks down carbohydrates
How did lactose intolerance become so wide spread in the human population?
Most people at a certain age stop producing lactate which is the enzyme that breaks down lactose, without it you cannot digest dairy properly
