IMMUNE SYSTEM Flashcards

Q
Functions of white blood cells
A
Phagocytosis- engulf pathogens and then destroy them
Producing anti toxins- bind and counteract toxins produced by pathogens
Producing antibodies- lock onto antigens and act as signals telling the body where they are, each antibody is specific to a particular antigen. The body remembers which antibodies can attach to which antigens, this is immunity, as when pathogens enter the body remembers and produces many many antibodies
