Study enrolled 98 dogs, and diagnosed with either pITP or sITP pending initial abdominal ultrasound and infectious disease SNAP test results.
No definitive test was found to differentiate pITP from sITP dogs. pITP dogs correlated with lower platelet values.
Lower Hct and high BUN concentrations associated with non-survival.
Plt count NOT correlated with admission bleeding score, and not a predictor of survival or transfusion.
