Both of them moved due to poverty, but the main reasons were discrimination, persecution, and massacres that took place. They wanted a different experience in the US.
What’s realism and how does it differ from movements of the past?
It is Representation in art or literature of objects actions or conditions as they are without idealization. It differs from the past because Literature now mimics reality, instead of an escape
Why did people come here from Europe?
Poverty, land/food shortages, diseases, unemployment
What was the purpose of the gangs?
To have a group of people from one ethnicity be together and “hang out”. It also is the group to be in the ghetto. They all have people they know from their old country after immigrating to the US.
