What is the IMDG Code?
International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code (IMDG)
The IMDG code covers the provisions for packing, labelling, container traffic, stowage and segregation of dangerous goods, and provides recommendations for handling, medical first aid and emergency response during incidents.
What are the different classifications under the IMDG Code?
Class 1 – Explosives
Class 2 – Gases
Class 3 – Flammable liquids
Class 4 – Flammable solids
Class 5 – Oxidizing substances and organic peroxides
Class 6 – Toxic and infectious substances
Class 7 – Radioactive materials
Class 8 – Corrosive substances
Class 9 – Miscellaneous dangerous substances
What is the contents of Volume II of the IMDG Code?

- The dangerous goods list presented in tabular form (contains reference to the emergency schedules contained in the Supplement, for spillage and fire
