ICP9 - Dentine Pulp Complex Flashcards
Chemical Differences between Dentine and Dental Pulp
- Dentine Collagen Type I VS Pulp collage Type I, III and V
- ## Dentine has no Fibronectin
What is interlobular Dentine?
Micrometer diameter tubules surrounded by highly mineralised peritubular dentine embedded within partially mineralised collagen matrix
What is Primary dentine is formed by?
Odontoblasts during the development of the tooth
Odontoblasts continually deposit what throughout the life of the tooth?
Secondary Dentine
What is tertiary dentine?
Dentine laid down rapidly on the pulpal aspect of areas of occlusal wear or diseases
What do pulpal blood vessels do?
They supply nutrients and structural materials to dentine
What do Pulpal nerves do?
Control dentine sensitivity and may regulate secondary and tertiary dentine deposition
When does dentine become an inert tissue incapable of response or repair?
When the dental pulp dies or is removed
- Tooth often becomes discoloured
What are dentine-pulp complex reactions to the stimulus aimed at reducing?
Permeability of Dentine
What can in and out fluid shifts cause?
Hydronamic stimuli across the dentine into the dental pulp, causing pain if not anaesthetised.
- Could cause local pulpal neurogenic inflammation
