Ice and Rain Protection Flashcards
How many ice detectors are installed?
2
What happens if both ice detectors fail?
Anti-ice operation is only possible in the manual mode
How long does the wing and engine anti-ice remain on for?
5 minutes after icing conditions are no longer detected
What electrical sources are needed for the windshield heating to operate?
At least 2 AC electrical sources
In flight if there is only a single AC electrical source, which windshield is heated?
- Only the left windshield heating is powered
* If the left windshield heating system fails then the right becomes available
Will the windshield wipers stop if operated on a dry windshield?
Yes
When will the wing anti-ice system test itself during flight?
10 minutes after takeoff or 10,000 ft AGL, whichever occurs first
How many probes are installed?
- 4 smart probes
* 2 TAT probes
When are the probes automatically heated?
Whenever an engine is running or airborne
How does the engine anti-ice bleed valve fail?
Fails open if the electrical or pressure signals are not present
What happens if one bleed air fails?
The anti-ice system automatically opens the crossbleed valve
Is the APU capable of supplying bleed air for anti-icing?
No
The MCDU operates the anti ice system system and inhibits the ice detectors until when on takeoff?
1,700 ft AGL or 2 minutes, whichever occurs first
What does selecting “ALL” on the MCDU provide?
- Engine anti ice - on when engines are running
* Wing anti ice - on at 40 kts wheel speed
What compressor stage is bleed air tapped for anti-icing operations?
10th high stage valve
