Air Management System Flashcards
When will the bleed valve system automatically shut down?
When a leak, overpressure, or fail condition is identified
Can APU bleed air be used for the anti-ice system?
No
Is it possible to have the APU and engines supplying bleed air simultaneously?
No
Can a single engine bleed supply air to both ECS packs?
Yes, via the cross bleed valve
How does the negative and positive pressure relief valves work?
Spring loaded check valve that does not require electrical power
When will the negative pressure relief valve open?
When pressure exceeds -0.5 psi between the cabin and surrounding environment
When will the positive pressure relief valve open?
When pressure exceeds 8.6 psi between the cabin and surrounding environment
What is normal differential pressure below 37,000 ft?
7.8 psi
What is normal differential pressure above 37,000 ft?
8.34 psi
Is the dump function available in manual pressurization mode?
No
In manual pressurization mode is there automatic cabin depressurization on the ground?
No
What conditions must be met for the engine bleed valve to automatically open?
- Bleed switch set to auto
- Engine bleed is available
- No fire is detected in the engine
- No bleed duct leak is detected
Recirculation fans provide what percentage of fresh air to recirculated air?
52% fresh air to 48% recirculated air
When will the recirculation fans be commanded off?
- Both packs are commanded off
- Cargo bay fire signal activates
- Dump button is pressed
- Smoke detected in the recirculation bay
- Cabin warmup mode
What provides air to the gasper ventilation system?
Air from the right recirculation fan
When will the emergency ram air ventilation valve open?
- Both ECS packs are commanded off or failed
* Planes altitude is less than 25,000 ft
What comprises the cabin pressurization control system?
- Cabin pressure controller (CPC)
- One cabin outflow valve (OFV)
- One negative pressure relief valve (NPRV)
- One positive pressure relief valve (safety valve)
- Static pressure port
What happens when the DUMP button is pushed?
- CPCS sets the ECS packs and recirculation fans off
* Opens the outflow valve to maintain 2,000 ft/min climb to 12,400 ft
What is the CPCS abort mode?
Cabin pressure is set back to the takeoff altitude
When is the CPCS abort mode activated?
- Airplane stops climbing
- Cruise mode was not activated
- Pressure altitude is lower than 10,000 ft
- Airplane is lower than 5,000 ft above takeoff field elevation
What color is the landing field elevation (LFE) on the EICAS?
- Green FMS input
* Cyan manual input
What happens if the cross bleed valve fails open?
Engine bleed #1 will be closed if the other bleed source is engine #2
What prevents engine bleed air from flowing to the APU?
APU bleed check valve
Where is bleed air extracted from the engine?
6th and 10th stages
