Ibuprofen Indications
A
- Mild to moderate pain
- Moderate to severe pain in conjunction with other medicines

Ibuprofen Contraindications
A
- Known severe allergy
- Pregnancy
3.The presence of sepsis, dehydration, shock or clinically significant bleeding. As it can worsen renal impairment and increase the risk of bleeding - Known worsening of bronchospasm with NDAIDs.

Ibuprofen Cautions
A
- Has taken within the last four hours
- Abdominal pain, particularly if unwell or vomiting
- Age greater than or equal to 75 years, particularly if frail

Ibuprofen Dose Adults
A
600 mg for adults weighing greater than 80kg
400 mg for adults weighing 80kg or less

A
Per oral (PO), usually comes in 200mg tablets

Ibuprofen Mechanism of Action
A
- Is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAIDs)
- Inhibits the activity of the enzyme prostaglandin synthetase, reducing prostaglandin production and causing a reduction in inflammation, pain and fever.

Ibuprofen Common Adverse Effects
A
- Renal impairment
- Increased bleeding
- Can cause Indigestion, gastrointestinal ulceration and bleeding with chronic administration
