What is a theory?
A
An explanation for behaviour tested using objective research methods.

What are variables?
A
Anything that can change or vary.
IV = Independant variables - Deliberately changed DV = Dependant variables - What is being measured

How do you formulate a hypothesis that you can test?
A
A clear precise testable statement, the DV + two levels of the IV. Alternate hypothesis = statement of relationship between variables.

What is an extraneous variable?
A
Unwanted variables that could affect the DV. This causes a change in the dv due to the ev not the IV.

What are the research procedures?
A
Instructions to participants - giving the same info about the study to all participants
Standardised procedure - Using the exact same methods and procedures for everyone in the study.
Randomisation- Using chance to control effects of bias in a study.
