what is hypopituitarism
Hypopituitarism is the partial or complete deficiency in hormones produced by the pituitary (GH, FSH & LH, TSH and ACTH from the anterior pituitary and ADH from the posterior pituitary)
what is panhypopituitarism
Panhypopituitarism is deficiency of all of these hormones
It is commonly caused by surgery or radiotherapy
GH deficiency presentation
central obesity, dry skin, reduced muscle strength, reduced exercise tolerance
FSH and LH deficiency
In females: oligomenorrhoea or amenorrhoea, infertility, sexual dysfunction, breast atrophy
In males: infertility, sexual dysfunction, hypogonadism
TSH deficiency
hypothyroidism
ACTH deficiency
Fatigue, reduced muscle mass, anorexia, myalgia, GI upset
what do we call ADH deficiency
diabetes insipidus
