disease: Coarctation, a narrowing of the aorta

2 kinds of hypertension
-Blood Pressure is elevated but CAUSE IS UNKNOWN
-Familial incidence, low birth weight, obesity, high sodium intake
migration from rural to urban environment, high alcohol consumption
ESSENTIAL HYPERTENSION
-Liver, Kidney, Spleen and Heart involved
-Patterns:
Liver and Kidney Yin Deficiency
Liver Yang or Liver Fire Rising
Spleen Deficiency
Phlegm
Blood stasis ( in advanced cases)
( liver involved because stored blood effected by emotion)
Hypertension
- No ancient Chinese disease called “Hypertension”
Hypertension, HA on temples, eyes or lateral side of head,
dizziness , tinnitus, deafness, high systolic BP, blurred vision,
dry mouth and throat, insomnia, irritability, feeling worked up,
anger outbursts, stiff neck.
T: Pale if LV Blood Def…Red on sides, no coat if LV Yin Def.
P: Wiry or Wiry and fine if Yin and Blood Deficient
Tx: Subdue Liver Yang
Tx pts: LV 3 ( big moving point on liver channel, TW5, LI 4, GB 20,
Taiyang, GB 9, If Blood/yin def: Sp 6, LV 8 ( tonifies blood)
Stomach 36, KD 3 ( tonifies KD) KD 6(for women)
KD 7 ( for men)
Liver Yang Rising
Hypertension, high systolic BP, irritability, outbursts of anger, tinnitus, deafness, temporal HA, dizziness, red face and eyes, thirst, bitter
taste, dream disturbed sleep, constipation w/ dry stools, dark yellow urine, epistaxis, haematemesis, haemoptysis
T: Red body, redder on sides, dry yellow coat
P: Full-Wiry-Rapid
Tx: Drain liver Fire
Points: LV2, LV 3, GB20 ( good for dizziness, opens head)GB 13, LI 11, GB 1, GB9, GB 8, GB 6SP 6, LV1(Bloodletting), Taiyang
(GB 20 and GV 24 = lobotomy points)
Liver Fire (red face)
H/A, high systolic blood pressure, dizziness, epistaxis,
(bleeding from above) hypochondrial distention, depression, moodiness, poor appetite
T: Slighly Red on sides
P: Wiry
Tx: Soothe the Liver, eliminate stagnation, subdue rebellious Blood

Liver Qi Stagnation, Blood rebelling upwards
H/A, hypochondrial distention, feeling of distention in chest,
Irritability, moodiness, tiredness, poor appetite, sputum in throat,
desire to lie down, loose stools.
T: Slightly Red on sides, Pale in center
P: Slightly Wiry on left, weak on right
Tx: Soothe the liver, eliminate stagnation, move Qi tonify the spleen,
resolve Phlegm

Liver Invading Spleen
Hypertension, high diastolic blood pressure, dizziness, fuzziness,
heaviness of the head, high cholesterol, oppression of chest, blurred
vision, tinnitus, nausea, heaviness, numbness of limbs, obesity.
Stroke, mental emotional problems

T: Swollen with sticky coat
P: Slippery
Tx: Resolve Phlegm, open the orifices of the head and middle burner
