Who should be offered antihypertensives
- stage 2 hptn
- <80: stage 1 + Q risk>10%; DM; renal disease; CVD/EO damage
Step 1 antihypertensives in <55 & non-black
ACEi
Stop 1 antihypertensives in >55 or black
Calcium channel blocker
Step 2 antihypertensives
- A+C
- A+D
- C+D
Step 3 antihypertensives
A+C+D
Step 4 antihypertensives if K is too low
A+C+D+K sparing diuretic
Step 4 antihypertensives if K is too high
A+C+D+alpha/beta blocker
When is ACEi substituted by ARB
- cough
- black
1st line antihypertensive in diabetics regardless of anything else
