3 indications of incentive spitromerty

A
  • signs of developing pulmonary atelectasis from upper abdominal surgery ( any surgery near diaphragm) which prevents pt from taking normal/ deep breaths
  • presence of pulmonary atelectasis
  • presence of restrictive lung defect associated with quadriplegia or dysfunctional diaphragm

A
  • pt cannot cooperate or understand/ demonstrate IC
  • pt cannot be instructed or supervised
  • pt is unable to take a deep breath ( VC 10 ml/kg or IC 1/3 predicted)
