culture, socioeconomic class, health state (illness, procedures, or injury can reduce ability for perform personal hygiene), personal preference (how often and when they like to bathe)

suspicious moles or lesions

lips (color, skin condition- dry?), color of gums, teeth (poor dentition?), tongue (dry, red?), palates, oropharynx

what do you pay attention to when assessing nails and feet?
pay special attention to those with diabetes mellitus and peripheral vascular disease

fecal or urinary incontinence

whats the difference in providing care for an independent and dependent client?
independent- provide with necessary items and assist them if needed
dependent- anything they can do to help- LET THEM
what are some helpful factors for caring with a patient with dementia?
decrease stimuli, ask them to help anyway they can, bathe one section at a time, wash face and hair last, stay calm, be organized and efficient, keep the temperature warm
