hydrocephalus Flashcards
1
Q
what is it
A
accumulation CSF leading to incr ICP
2
Q
what is non communicating
A
obstructive. CSF cant reach subarach space. most common at the cerebral aqueduct
3
Q
what is communicating
A
non obstructive. obstruction in the subarach space. bleeding or meningitis
4
Q
what is normal pressure hydrocephalus
A
spaces filled with CSF uniformly enlarge without increase in ICP. impaired CSF resorption at arachnoid granulations
5
Q
congenital causes
A
Arnold Chiara malformation, Dandy walker
6
Q
acquired causes
A
infections, meningitis, tumours, trauma, ICH
7
Q
what is Arnold Chiara malformation
A
downward displacement of cerebellar tonsils into the foramen magnum causing non communicating hydrocephalus
