Q

What makes hydrophobic interactions favorable?

A

Hydrophobic interactions are a spontaneous process. The entropy of the universe increases when hydrophobic interactions occur. Hydrophobic interactions which depend on the unfavorable entropy of the water of hydration surrounding nonpolar solutes are particularly important determinants of protein folding.

Q

Can we predict the tertiary structure of a protein if we know it’s amino acid sequence?
