- Katniss: hard, determined, very. Mature for her age, defiant, unsentimental and practical. She confronts her challenges. She is disgruntled and often unappealing to the audience ( Haymitch struggles to tap into her appeal ). Audience may feel admiration, but seldom sympathy
Truman Show:
- immature, never really had to look after himself ( although he doesn’t know this ) Truman for the first 30 years of his life, hid behind his fears, he is controlled by his fears. Sunny personality, very likeable, appeals to the audience, child like, audience feels sympathy for him

- aware of the cameras
- plays to the cameras- behaves differently in front of the cameras
- manipulated by the cameras, but manipulates back ( flowers on Rue’s grave, father’s song )
Truman Show:
- unaware of cameras
- Acts naturally ( as far as his environment will let him ) all the time
- unable to use the cameras to his advantage
