Humerus Flashcards
Structure articulating with the glenoid cavity
Head of Humerus
Area between the head and greater/lesser tubercles of humerus
Anatonmical Neck
Structure facing anteriorly providing attachments for all rotator cuff muscles (shoulder)
Greater/Lesser Tubercle
Narrow area distal to tubercles which is a common site for fractures
Surgical Neck
AKA. Intertubercular Groove
- Groove for the attachment for long head of bicep brachii muscle
- Between the 2 tubercles
Bicipital Groove
Where the deltoid muscle inserts
Deltoid Tuberosity
A lateral/medial ridge found above the lateral/medial condyles
Lateral/Medial Supracondylar Ridge
Below the lateral/medial supracondylar ridge
Lateral/Medial Condyle
Distal point of located laterally of humerus
Radial Fossa
Provide extensor muscles to the forearm
Lateral Epicondyle
Rounded projection at the distal end of humerus, articulating with radius
Capitulum
Medial side of humerus on the distal end
Coronoid Fossa
Articulate with ulna
Trochlea
AKA. Sprial Groove. Indentation for radial nerves to pass through
Radial Groove
Fossa articulating the elbow
Olecranon Fossa
Depression found medially on the medial epicondyle
Groove for Ulnar Nerve
Attachment point for flexor muscle of forearm
Medial Epicondyle
Movement of arm causing the scapula to sit at a 45 degree angle relative to the frontal/sagittal plane
