What is the Humanistic approach?
The humanistic approach is an approach that emphasises the importance of subjective experience and a persons capacity for self determination.
Are we determined by forces beyond our control
What is free will?
Free will is the ides that humans can make choices that are not determined by biology or external forces.
What is a person-centred approach?
A person centred approach is to consider all of the individuals needs when giving care or therapy
Who created Hierarchy of needs?
Maslow
What is the hierarchy of needs?
Humans are motivated by needs beyond basic survival
we have to move through the hierarchy to self acualisation
what is at the bottom of the hierarchy?
-physiological stage(food, water, shelter)
-safety (employment, good health, property)
-love + belonging ( family, friendship)
What is the second from bottom layer of the hierarchy of needs?
safety- employment, good health, property
what is the third layer of the hierarchy of needs?
love and belonging -family, friendships
what is the forth layer of the hierarchy of needs?
esteem- self esteem , confidence, respect
What is at the top of the hierarchy needs ?
self actualisation
What does self actualisation consist of?
-creativity
-good problem solving
-morality
-lack of prejudice
How do you move up the hierarch of needs?
You move up the hierarchy of needs by meeting the conditions from the previous stage to enter the next stage.
What is self actualisation?
The desire to grow, psychologically and fulfil ones potential- become what you are capable
