What is client centred therapy?
- aims to assist clients in achieving congruence
- Based on the belief that clients are the experts in their own lives
What is congruence?
When the ideal self is very similar to the self concept
What is determinism?
The view that behaviour is shaped or controlled by internal or external forces rather than a person’s will or choice to do something
What is free will?
This is the notion that humans can make choices and are not determined by biological or external forces
What did Maslow believed motivated us?
- Maslow believed humans are motivated by needs beyond those of basic biological survival.

When your ideal self is very different to your self concept
