Client centred therapy- client are experts of their own experience- directed by client
: encouraged to discover their own solutions
: warm, non judgement zone to work
Strengths
human motivation
includes free will
holistic - multiple solutions
client centre therapy helps reach self actualisation
Limitations
limited application
- only therapy
not reductionist as it can’t be broken into IV and DV
cultural bias - based on individual cultures, not collective
- not relevant to collectivist cultures (european)
Scientific?
scientific method is inappropriate
- humans are subjective not objective
- can’t test free will
subjective = not scientific
- reduces validity, not falsifiable
