Q

Concept of self-acceptance

A

Roger - we all have two selves
-Real self (how u really are and how others see you) and ideal self ( who you want to be and who u might grow to become)

-Incongruence between ideal and real self (if ideal self is not realistic) causes bad mental health and lowers self worth.
-The more overlap between both selfs the better mental health and self actualisation becomes possible.

A

-How you feel about yourself.

-if you get this = good self esteem
-if you get conditions of worth (negative regard) criticism = low self esteem
Can’t self actualisation

Person centred therapy
