Q

What is the process the respiratory system carries out?

A

The nasal passages take in air and it travels through the trachea then the bronchi brings air into the lungs where a gas exchange happens.

Q

What is the digestive system?

A

The digestive system is what breaks down your food into tiny particles that can be absorbed into the blood. these particles provide energy to the body to be able to grow, repair and remain healthy. Whatever food cannot be broken down gets released from the body as faeces.

Q

what are skeletal muscles?

A

Muscles that connect to your bones and allow you to preform a wide range of functions and movements and make up 30-40% of your body mass. They are voluntary muscles and get controlled through nerves in your somatic nervous system sending signals to them to get them to function.

17
Q

What do cardiac muscles do?

A

They help your heart pump blood throughout your whole body. They are involuntary muscles that your autonomic nervous system controls.

19
Q

What does the skeletal system do?

A

It is the frame for your body, whilst also supports your muscles, provides movement and makes red blood cells.

20
Q

what is the skeletal system made up of

A

Whilst the majority is made up of bones it also includes connective tissue like cartilage, tendons and ligaments.

21
Q

How does the skeletal system allow you to move?

A

Your connective tissue and muscles work together with the skeletal system to make your body parts mobile.

22
Q

How does the skeletal system make blood cells?

A

Your bones contain marrow much produces red and white blood cells .

23
Q

How many layers do bone have?

A

Three.

24
Q

What is the nervous systems main jobs?

A

To control complicated processes like maintaining homeostasis, movement, thought and memory. it also plays an essential role in things your body does without thinking like blinking, blushing or sweating. It also allows you to respond to stimuli.

25
Q

What are the main organs in the nervous system?

A

The brain and spinal cord make up the central nervous system whilst the peripheral nervous system contains nerves that branch off from the CNS.

26
Q

What is the difference between the central and peripheral nervous system?

A

The central nervous system uses to nerves to send messages to the rest of your body then the peripheral nervous system contains nerves that branch out from the CNS nervous system which then relay the message to the organs, arms, legs, fingers and toes.

27
Q

What does your peripheral nervous system contain?

A

Your somatic nervous system which guides your bodies movements and ,your automatic nervous system which controls the activities you do without thinking about.

28
Q

What is the circulatory systems main job?

A

To transport blood around the entire body to keep it functioning properly.

29
Q

What are the four main functions of the circulatory system?

A

1- to transport fuel to the body
2- transport wastes to the liver and kidney
3- transport cells to fight diseases
4- transport hormones through out the body

30
Q

What are the four main organs in the circulatory system?

A

The heart, arteries, veins and capillaries,

31
Q

What is the reproductive systems job?

A

It is a collection of internal and external organs that work together for the purpose of procreating.

32
Q

What organs does the males reproductive system include?

A

The external organs include the testicles, penis and scrotum. The internal organs include the urethra, the prostate and the vas deferens.

33
Q

What jobs do the organs in the male reproductive system do?

A

They produce, maintain and transport sperm and semen. they discharge sperm into the female reproductive tract and they produce and secrete male sex hormones.

34
Q

How does the male reproductive system function?

A

The male reproductive system functions entirely through hormones. the primary hormones involved are testosterone, follicle-stimulating hormone and luteinizing hormone.

35
Q

What are the main structures in the female reproductive system?

A

The main external structures are the labia majora, the labia minora, Bartholin’s glands and the clitoris. The external organs include the vagina, uterus, ovaries and fallopian tubes.

36
Q

What is the function of the external female reproductive structures?

A

To enable sperm to enter the body and to protect the internal genital organs from infectious organisms.

37
Q

What is the excretory system?

A

The excretory system consists of organisms which remove metabolic wastes and toxin from the body.

38
Q

What are the main organs in the excretory system?

A

The kidney, the ureters, urinary bladder are all involved in the creation and expulsion of urine. Organs like the skin, large intestine and liver are responsible for
excreting other waste products.

39
Q

What is the function if the lymphatic system?

A

The lymphatic system is part of the immune system and has many roles to play. Some of these are protecting your body from illness-causing invaders, maintaining body fluid levels, absorbing digestive tract fats and removing cellular waste.

40
Q

What are the parts of the lymphatic system?

A

Lymph, lymph nodes, lymphatic vessels, collecting ducts, spleen, thymus, tonsils and adenoid, bone marrow, peyers patches and appendix.

41
Q

What are the two types of immunities?

A

Natural which uses stomach juices, mucous membrane and skin to protect itself from new infections. And there is acquired immunity where the body may stop previous attacks its had multiple times before as it remembers the intruder and protects itself from it.

42
Q

What is the function of the endocrine system?

A

The endocrine system creates and releases hormones through your glands and they control nearly all processes all over your body. These chemicals help in controlling your mood, metabolism, growth and development, emotions, sexual functions and even sleep.

43
Q

How does the endocrine system work?

A

It continuously monitors the amount of hormones in your body. The hormones deliver there messages by locking into the cells they target so they can relay the message.

44
Q

What are the main glands involved in the endocrine system?

A

The hypothalamus, pituitary, thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal, pineal, pancreas, ovaries and testes,

45
Q

What is the main function of the integumentary system?

A

To protect the inside of the body form elements in the environment- like bacteria, pollution and uv rays from the sun.

46
Q

What structures does the integumentary system include?

A

The hair, nails, skin, sensory nerves and the exocrine glands.

47
Q

How many layers are there of skin?

A

Two layers- the epidermis: the outer layer of skin which makes up its strong protective covering. And the dermis- located under the epidermis and is where most of the structures of the skin sit like hair follicles and various types of gland.
