HRA IET - Human Resources Advisor Initial Employment Training
Takes 9 weeks, located at Wagga, NSW. Course content includes instruction in personnel service entitlements, orders and publications, correspondence and files, conventions and forms of correspondence, general service matters and computer data base introduction.
What can court expect your everyday role to be once posted to your unit? (HRA).
As a HRA I could be employed in a wide range of roles including:
A) Personnel Management -
In a PM role I would be working with members and commanders at more of an individual level, helping interpret and apply policies and delivering welfare management.
B) Personnel Operations -
In a PO role I would be focusing on managing personnel through operational capabilities. This could include exercise and operations planning from a workforce structures perspective, and identifying and selecting appropriate staff to fill deployment positions.
C) Resource and Knowledge Management -
Focuses more on business functions; financial management and budgeting, governance and reporting; record keeping and management of internal information flow.
D) Communication Effects -
In a CE role I would undertake a number of internal communications tasks including drafting and disseminating command messages (formal and informal). May include website content and use of social media. Tasks may also include visit coordination and host nation liaison duties.
E) Air & Ground Operations -
Coordinating my units operations.
Why do you want to be a Human Resources Advisor?
I think as a HRA, being able to help members at an individual level would be really rewarding. I enjoy planning and coordinating and doing administrative tasks. I also like that the role may involve working in different environments.
What are some working/employment conditions of your job? What are some positives and negatives? (HRA).
It could involve working in a range of different environments and in various conditions ranging from the field to the office, across Australia or overseas. I think working in a diverse environment would keep things interesting, as a negative it may involve extreme climatic conditions.
What will your career progression look like? (HRA).
Further training could involve post grad and other training such as equity and diversity, workplace health and safety and airside awareness. As well as job specific training such as recruiting training and assessment, or military skills instruction.
Where could you be posted?
As a HRA I could be posted at any airforce base in Australia.
