Human resource management
HRM is a strategic and coherent approach to the management of an organisations most valued assets- the people working there, who individually and collectively contribute to the achievement of its objectives (Armstrong 2006)
HRM concerns the humans side of Management of employee relations with their firms
The role of HRM
To enable the organisation to achieve its objectives
To ensure management deals effectively with all aspects of the employment relationship
To create an environment enabling people to make best use of their capabilities to realise their full potential to the benefit of themselves and the organisation
To operate as an integrated part of the business management process
To support business strategy to take advantage of opportunities and find solutions to constraints
