  • in ovaries by the remains of the follicle after ovulation
  • maintains the lining of the uterus during the 2nd half of the cycle-when it falls the lining breaks down
  • inhibits the release of LH and FSH

How does the embryo develop?

A
  • once implanted into uterus lining, placenta develops-allows the exchange of water, oxygen and waste
  • the amnion membrane forms, surrounding the embryo and is full of amniotic fluid which protects the embryo
