Human reaction time (Required Practical) Flashcards
1
Q
Tell me the step to measure a humans reaction time
A
- person 1 sits on a stool with good upright posture
- If you are right-handed, then your dominant arm is your right arm.
- Now person 2 holds a ruler vertically.
- The 0 cm mark should be between person 1’s thumb and first finger.
- Person 2 then tells person 1 to prepare to catch the ruler.
- Person 2 now drops the ruler at a random time.
- Person 1 has to catch the ruler with their thumb and first finger as quickly as possible when it drops.
- Person 2 now records the measurement on the ruler that is level with the to of person 1’s thumb.
- At this point, person 1 has a short rest.
- repeat this text several times to get a mean calculation
- from these results we can convert the results into reaction time by using a conversion table
- Then the 2 people switch places and repeat the while practical over again
2

the reaction time
4
Q
what are the control variables in this experiment
A
- the starting distance between the thumb and the first finger
- measure the ruler at the top at the thumb
- the environment of the room e.g the light and background notice
