diaphysis (the shaft), metaphysis (the flared region), epiphysis (the very end)
What are the three components of bones?
cortical, trabecular, and medullary cavity

the study of microscopic tissue
What are the features of cortical bone?
primary vascular canals, primary osteons (woven), secondary osteons (rings)
What are the features of trabecular bone?
trabeculae and red bone marrow
What are the three types of joints?
immovable, slightly moveable, and freely movable
What are the six types of freely moveable joints?
ball & socket, condyloid (jaw), saddle (base of thumb), hinge, pivot, gliding (toes, wrist)
