Q

How is a nerve impulse transmitted?

A
  1. Nerve impulse reaches axon terminal at the end of the axon.
  2. A chemical called a neurotransmitter is released into the space between neurons (synapse).
  3. Neurotransmitter carries the message from the axon of one neuron to the dendrite of the next neuron.
  4. Dendrite receives the chemical message and sends off an electrical signal.
