Human Impacts On Biodiversity Flashcards
1
Q
What is biodiversity?
A
Is the variety of living organisms in a organisms
2
Q
What is eutrophication?
A
Is when fertilisers are put into the fields to increase the production of crops, this then seeps into the nearby water supplies causing excess nitrates, this then rapidly grows algae blocking out sunlight. This causes plants to die as no photosynthesis creating decomposition and this decomposing allows algae to feast on the energy reducing oxygen killing aerobic respiration life forms.
3
Q
Why are fish farms bad?
A
Causes eutrophication through fish food
Breeding group for parasites killing animals
Predators can be trapped and die
Fish can escape - one species
