Adenine (purine)
NH2 group on carbon 1
Cytosine (pyrimidine)
Add oxygen (O=) to carbon 3
Guanine (purine)
Switch NH2 and oxygen (O=)
Thymine (pyrimidine)
Replace NH2 with a second oxygen (O=)
Add methyl group on carbon 5
Uracil (pyrimidine)
Remove the methyl group on carbon 5
