How far was your site typical of its type at this time? (Victorian) Flashcards
Paragraph 2
Typical because it has a Great Hall used for dining with stained glass- both Durham and Trinity college have this. The stained glass includes the coats of arms of important people to the site. The Great Hall was used for meals for the students.
Paragraph 1
Typical because it is similar to other colleges from the time:
Both Durham and Trinity college in Cambridge were designed by Anthony Salvin (he rebuilt the keep at Durham)
Paragraph 3
Not typical because Durham was a castle first whereas Trinity college was purpose built as a college. Therefore, the students at Durham slept in the Keep and above the gatehouse. Durham has some original Norma features like a chapel and Norman Arch which no other university college has.
