How does electricity travel Flashcards
What is current electricity?
current electricity is when the electrons are continually moving in one direction
What is a circuit?
the electric current flows from an energy sources along one path to the output device and back to the source
What is a conductor?
something that helps electrons move to create electricity
What is an insulator?
insulators are materials that don’t let electricity flow
What can electrical energy be converted to?
heat, light
What is an electrical device that produces light?
a flashlight, a light bulb
What is one of the best conductors of electric current?
metal wire
Another name for a battery is
a source of energy
in a circuit, the wire would act as a
conductor
a lightbulb, toaster, computer, television, hairdryer are all types of
output devices
a device used to easily open and close an electrical circuit
a switch
if three light bulbs are connected in a chain they are part of a
series
when an electric current is not allowed to flow the circuit is called
open or incomplete
when each lightbulb is connected separately to the energy source it is said to be a
parallel circuit
