how was snopdrop campaign a pressure group
-lots of people supported it
- started by ann pearston by alot of friends and familes of the victim got involved
- used their influence to pressure government to change legislation
what were the reasons behind the snowdrop campaign
-13th march 1996, thomas hamilton commited a school shooting and killed 16 children and their teacher
- hamilton could legally own several firearms, he carried 4 handguns and 743 round of ammo
-this struck for ann and people to start campaigning for a ban of ownership of guns
what campain methods did snowdrop use
-petition, got over 700,000 signatures which got taken to parliament an dput pressure on governemnt to take action
-media methods, letters by victims were posted in national newspapers
-a short film was made by sean connery
what policy was intoduced from snowdrop campaign
firearms amendment act 1997- banned private ownership of handguns above 22 calibre, this lead to national amnesty, 165,353 liscenced handguns and 700+ tonnes of ammo were surrendered
how was protection against stalking a pressure group
its a large organisation and national charity to support victims and spread awareness about stalking. they use there influence to try and pressure government into changing the laws relationg to stalking and harrassmnet
what was hte reason behind the protection against stalking campaign
it began becaus e tere was poor qulaity of the law surrounding stalking. the group felt that the laws at the time werent fit for purpose.

social media, educational events, posters/leaflets, national stalking helpline

protection of freedom- made stalking a criminal offence. stalking ehaviour-following, contacting, monitering, loitering, interfering, watching, spying etc
staling protection act- bans offenders from visiting victims work,home and places of study
stalking protection order (SPO) forced prerpetrators to seek proffesional help, breach is considered a crminal offfence
how was clares law an individual campaign
clares father Michael Brown started the campaign and he campaigned for a domestic violence disclosure scheme
what were the reasons behind clares law
clare was murdered by her abusive ex bf in 2009 and the ex bf had a history of violence against women
clares father said that if he known about the ex bfs history, he coudve protected clare, this struck for a campaign for a disclosure scheme to be put into place.
what campaign methods did clares law use
brown came uo with the idea of the disclosure schme and put it forward to the government
he worked for years, gathering evidence, signatures on petitions,charity support,politicion suipport,the media ect
he did interviews on tv, radio and featured in newspapers and magazines

domestic abuse disclosure scheme 2014- the right to ask and the right to know if your partner has a history of domestic abuse
domestic violence act 2021- the police have the duty of protecting potential victims

ann ming started the campaign after her daughter was murdered in 1989 and her and her husband wanted the law to change
what was the reason behind the double jeopardy campaign
ann mings daughter was murdered by billy dunlop, he got got taken to trial and the jury couldnt come to a conclusion and his case was dismissed, he later ended up in prison because od something unrelated but was heard bragging about how he did actually kill ann mings daughter but got away with it because of the double jeopardy law
